Meet Barkley

He's here!

Thanks for all of the comments!  We decided to go with the name Barkley.  I had the day off yesterday so I went and picked him up in the morning.  We did lots of playing and he was worn out by the end of the day.  

 And, his first night was great!  I will write more soon, but I need to get to work for now.  I don't want to leave him though -- he's so sweet :)

Name that Puppy!

It's a boy!

We are getting a puppy!  He is just the cutest little guy!  We bring him home on Monday.  However, we need help choosing a name.  So far, here are the names in the running:

     1. Barkley

     2. Howie

     3. Bubba

     4. Gnarles (as in Gnarles Barkley... I don't really like this one but Chris does)

     5. Baby Blue (as in Butler Blue)

Any other ideas?  Please vote :)

Oh, What a Night!

Oh, my, goodness.  Can I just tell you what last night was like?  What words can I even use to describe it?  Exciting, amazing, thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime, on the edge of your seat, on the verge of a heart attack and tears, heartbreaking.  

I know this may sound crazy.  It's only a game, right?  I mean, that's what i've always told Chris when he is upset after a loss.  I've cheered many games and even cheered for Butler during the NCAA tournament in 2001 when we beat Wake Forest.  But somehow this was different.  This was a real life dream that came OH-SO-CLOSE to that perfect ending.  The boys played their hearts out and should have nothing to regret.  After listening to the press conference following the game, I love the team even more, as well as Coach Stevens.  Last night he was asked if he thought this would help with recruiting in the future.  His response, " I don't think we can get better guys than the ones we have.  We were two bounces from a national championship.  Just because they don't have stars next to their names..."  Good answer in my opinion :)

And can I just tell you what it was like to leave the stadium?  After the last unfortunate shot of the game, Butler fans immediately made their way towards the doors.  As thousands of us walked to our cars, it was merely complete silence.  I think everyone was still trying to take it all in.  We all believed.  It doesn't matter if nobody else did, but we did.

Okay, enough of the mushy stuff.  Here are some pictures from the game.  Overall, it was a great night.  I am SO glad that we got tickets.  Even though we wish Butler would have came out with a win, it is a night that we will never forget, and will likely go down in history.

Weekend of Celebrations

National Championship... Here we come!

What an exciting weekend!  We had some friends and family over for the game on Saturday night and had a great time.  We were all going crazy in the last few minutes of the game.  It's still hard to believe Butler is playing for a National Championship title.  After the game, Chris and I decided we wanted to get tickets, so we drove downtown during halftime of the Duke game to join everyone in the madness.  There were so many people and it was just crazy (and we even ran into a number of people we knew doing the same thing).  We bought tickets from West Virginia fans who just wanted to sell them and head home.  They were really nice and said they would be rooting for Butler (especially since they just got beat by Duke).  We got a set of four tickets, so we are headed to the game tomorrow night with our brother-in-law, Wade, and a good friend of ours, Alex.  I can't wait!  My manager even traded me shifts at work so I wouldn't have to be late to the game since I sometimes don't make it out before 10, even though we close at 9.

Today we went to church and then had lunch at Wade & Jessica's house for Easter.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.  

We watched my nieces on Saturday morning and had a little Easter egg hunt.  Katie won, of course, but she was the only one who really cared.  Betsy is content with anything and Addie just wanted to know what was in each egg... over and over again :) 

  I bought this shirt for Betsy a few years ago and now it fits Addie. 

It says, "If you think i'm cute, you shoud see my Aunt"  

I'm not nearly as cute as she is, but I just love the shirt :) 

My nieces and a coworker's daughter all watched The Chipmunks Squeakquel while we watched the game.  They started off on the couch and ended up here.  Do you think they are close enough to the TV?

What a beautiful day it was to celebrate our risen King.  I was reminded today of what Jesus went through for us, and ashamed that I don't think of it more often.  Jesus died on the cross so that we could have life, and i'm so thankful for that.  Hopefully we will continue the celebrating tomorrow when the Dawgs trample the Blue Devils.  I really think it could happen.  Lets go BU!

The Countdown Begins

We haven't managed to find tickets for the game yet (without spending an arm and a leg), but we are still pumped for the game.  We can't wait for Saturday!  We're going to have to keep ourselves busy until 6pm.  Might be a long day :)  Let's go Dawgs!!
